Our Approach

"Perissos" is the Greek word of "abundance in life" and that is our hope for everyone of our clients.

Based in the heart of Springwood. Our approach is providing the highest quality of service to our clients. We want to see clients succeed and finding a place of “abundance” in life. “Perissos” is the Greek word of “abundance in life” and that is our hope for everyone of our clients.

Our experience enables us to offer effective individualised psychological care. We provide treatment and support to a number of mental health conditions (e.g., depression, anxiety, grief & loss, transitional difficulties). We also provide families, couples, and group support and facilitation.

Our Focus

Our focus is to help individuals heal, energise, and become aware of their inner strengths. To be empowered, healed, and find their purpose. We achieve this by providing a safe space, listening to your concerns, and customising a treatment plan to support you every step of the way.

Michelle Chiang

PSYCHOLOGIST


Michelle is empathic, caring, and deeply wants the best for all her clients. For many years, she consulted with organisations, working with financial management, executives, medical professionals, lawyers, teachers, and engineers on how to manage and better their day to day life.

She has extensive experience working with young adults, teenagers, and their family members. Michelle brings a sense of acceptance and warmth and holds a safe space where her clients are free to explore, discuss, and collaboratively work through their current or past issues.

Michelle is particularly passionate at helping people work through their relationship conflict, personal challenges, transitions, stress, and improving one's psychological resilience. Michelle adopts a philosophy that fosters a sense of resilience and approaching life’s difficulties and disappointments with an expansion attitude and one of acceptance. Michelle assists her clients to understand and better manage their day to day emotional self. It is her goal to work collaboratively with clients and to empower them with problem solving skills, self-efficacy, emotional regulation and helpful internal dialogue.

She believes that therapy should not be unpleasant or arduous but an empowering experience that can be personally rewarding and enhance emotional maturity and growth. She enjoys the opportunity to help individuals and families achieve their desired goals and potential throughout their work and family life.

Michelle has studied and travelled to various parts of the world (e.g. Canada, Britain, and America just to name a few) and loves the richness of different cultures and history. She is a true believer in personal growth, and that no one is ever too old to learn and/or change their behaviours.

Steve Golding

COUNSELLOR / PSYCHOTHERAPIST


Steve is an experienced Counsellor, having worked as a School Counsellor in both primary and secondary settings for the last 20 years and part time in Private Psychotherapy Practice.

He works with Children, Adolescents and Adults. He has significant experience helping clients deal with the effects of Trauma, Anxiety, Depression and the dynamics of relationships including friendships and family. He has a mindful and compassionate approach that builds on the client’s innate resources and strengths.

Steve has trained in level 1 & 2 Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, which focuses on the Treatment of Trauma and Developmental and Attachment Issues. Sensorimotor Psychotherapy is a Somatic approach to Therapy with embedded Directed Mindfulness and a focus on the impact of Trauma on the Body and Nervous System.

Steve has also trained in Expressive Therapies for Children and Adolescents, which uses the modalities of Sandplay, Symbolwork and Expressive Arts in Emotional Release Counselling. These approaches allow for right brain expression and processing of difficult emotions and traumatic material for children and adolescents.

Kalen Peterson

PROVISIONAL PSYCHOLOGIST


Kalen is caring, passionate and highly motivated to help and provide the utmost quality care for all of his clients. Kalen is a provisional psychologist and disability support worker with three years of experience working with children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and intellectual disability.

As a provisional psychologist, his main areas of interest include working with children, adolescents, and adults with ASD, ADHD, intellectual disability, depression, anxiety, stress management, interpersonal relationship problems, trauma recovery, and social skills training.

Kalen’s goal for you is to feel safe, respected, and accepted when exploring your concerns and difficulties in a gentle and non-judgemental manner. Kalen takes a person-centred approach to therapy, working collaboratively with you whilst putting your needs and goals first. Kalen’s practise draws on multiple different therapeutic modalities.

In particular, his approach to therapy draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Family Systems Therapy (FST). It is his intention to empower you, bolster your psychological resilience, and provide you with the confidence and problem-solving skills necessary for overcoming your difficulties and concerns.

Misha, a passionate psychologist, is dedicated to empowering individuals to prioritize their mental health and break free from stigmas holding them back. She believes in a holistic approach, recognizing the intricate connection between our minds, bodies, and overall well-being.

“My focus is always on building rapport, so clients can trust me and feel safe, that’s important”

Building trust and rapport is Misha's cornerstone. She creates a safe and supportive space where clients can feel heard and understood, fostering open communication and effective healing.

Armed with valuable experience both in New Zealand and Australia, Misha has supported clients across all age groups, addressing a wide range of mild to moderate mental health concerns. From major Australian mental health services to domestic violence and sexual assault organizations, she has honed her skills in supporting individuals facing complex trauma and diverse cultural backgrounds, including CALD and First Nations communities. Misha is neurodivergent affirming and LGBTQAI+ affirming.

Misha leverages evidence-based practices, staying at the forefront of best practices to offer her clients effective and personalized solutions. And for those who prefer, she can provide therapeutic sessions in Hindi or Indo-Fijian.

Beyond her professional expertise, Misha embodies the principles of gratitude and positive psychology. She embraces creative pursuits, travel, and cherished moments with loved ones, demonstrating the importance of holistic well-being in her own life.

Meacy

RECEPTIONIST


Meacy is our Receptionist. She has a certification in Business Administration and recently started her pursuit in the education field. She is an empath who has a passion for helping and educating young adolescents. Meacy finds the job very rewarding and impactful. She believes in the practice and the wellbeing of all clients. In her spare time, she loves going to the beach and spending quality time with family and friends.

Rosie

RECEPTIONIST


Rosie is our newest Receptionist. She has just started a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at QUT. She is caring and dedicated to helping our clients with any questions they may have. Rosie enjoys her work with the practice and is always happy to help however she can. In her spare time, she can be found with a book or spending time with her family and friends.
